Underground posters highlight animals` plight

The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) charity has created a poster campaign for the Tube network to highlight the effects of the illegal ivory trade, commercial whaling and Canada`s seal hunt.

The campaign has been launched in partnership with Animals On The Underground, which was created in 1988 by Paul Middlewick after he spotted an elephant on his Tube map. The creatures are drawn using the map`s lines, stations and junctions.

More information is available at www.animalsontheunderground.com Visitors can download free e-postcards of the three poster designs. There are also special edition T-shirts available to order with 50 per cent of profits going to IFAW.

To find out about the work being done by IFAW, and how you can support it, visit www.ifaw.org The website also includes free desktop and mobile phone wallpapers. In addition, there are details of a competition to spot a new animal in the Tube map. Prizes include a Nintendo Wii and the closing date for entries is May 15.
